| Do Not Be Afraid: A Call to Bold Living
|
|
|
So I was reading today in the Joyce Meyer magazine that I get about a call to be bold. That as Christians we are called to an amazing purpose...and God so badly wants us to fulfill that purpose and He is doing everything to get us there...and the one thing that most often gets in the way? Our own fear. I hate it when satan gets me afraid and I waste days and even weeks afraid. Fear leads me to nothing. Fear leads me to more fear and usually to worrying. Fear can lead to nothing good. God calls us away from that fear and into turst...confident trust in Him...Him who no matter what always has our best interests at heart. Confident trust...and we can take refuge in that, "I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I (confidently) trust!" Psalm 91:2 (AMP)
I was struck by that version and the word confidently...what does it mean when it says I confidently trust...I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean kind of trust..but really truly trust with everything I have. And by trusting God how can we be afraid. How can I shirk back in fear when God can so confidently be trusted. Oh, how badly I want to trust Him more...and more everyday.
The other thing I'm still discovering about trusting is that it seems like my heart's deepest desires...and the things that are the most imporant to me are the ones that I have a hard time giving completely over to God. Why are the things that are most important the hardest to give up? I feel like somehow I still want/need control of these the most...just in case God forgets that those are my deepest desires or in case God wants my help in getting them to fall into place. But, oh what a beautiful peace comes when we finally trust Him. It is a freedom that trumps all else. Oh how sweet to trust in Jesus (wasn't that an old hymn at sometime?) But by trusting we are able to live the bold life God wants from us.
It is after all only Satan who wants us to be afraid. And we who are saved by the blood of Jesus know who is going to win so why should we allow Satan to have even a bit of ground. I urge you friends to give up the fear...to live bold lives and to be able to say "In Him I (confidently) trust!" What a life that would be to be living it all for Him...I'm trying and I'd encourage you to also give it a try!

Just for you....You may be able to find it on YouTube.com.....I'm surprised a young person would even have heard this old song! Hope the words encourage you!
1. 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
and to take him at his word;
just to rest upon his promise,
and to know, "Thus saith the Lord."
Chorus:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I've proved him o'er and o'er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!
2. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
just to trust his cleansing blood;
and in simple faith to plunge me
neath the healing, cleansing flood!
(Chorus)
3. Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
just from sin and self to cease;
just from Jesus simply taking
life and rest, and joy and peace.
(Chorus)
4. I'm so glad I learned to trust thee,
precious Jesus, Savior, friend;
and I know that thou art with me,
wilt be with me to the end.
(Chorus)
