The Santa Barbara Scottish Rite Language Disorder Center and other Centers serve children in your community with primary speech and language disabilities.
Many children that we work with have language disorders that affect their comprehension, and understand of the English language. Speech disorders are estimated to effect up to 7% of preschoolers and school age children. Language disorders have a profounding effect on a child's social, emotional, and academic development.
There has been much research to demonstrate early intervention significantly improves long term functional communication skills.
These improvements enhance a child's quality of life in terms of social, emotional, academic and even vocational opportunities.
The Santa Barbara Scottish Rite Language Center provides FREE high quality services to the children and families in the community. (Many areas throughout the United States have Scottish Rite Language Centers called (Rite Care Centers) If your child is in need of these FREE services check your location for a Scottish Rite Office.)
In doing these we are able to advocate, educate, and provide FREE services that create a positive and last ing effect on their lives.
Many schools have group programs for short periods during the school day., Thus giving children very limited or little time, as well as possibly disrupting their class schedule.
We on the other hand provide a one on one session with the speech pathologist and keep the parents involved.
