| London Baby! |
Despite our horrific Friday night, we were able to get some rest and head out for Halloween in London! We stopped at a couple pubs, then decided to take a quick tour of the city. I'm not sure what building we passed but, we had been admiring it the whole night. All of a sudden at 9pm fireworks started shooting out of the building. Some guys told us it was 1,000 days until the Olympics. Not quite sure the significants. We weren't far from the main shopping area, which reminded me of Michigan Ave. We headed down one of the side streets and sat at a pub and enjoyed a few drinks. All of the people dressed up were hilarious! We stopped down the main street and saw some guys playing on buckets like they do in Chicago. There were two guys in the front doing acrobats and other crazy talents. Then some young boys ran by and threw a firework in the crowd of people and ran off. That was pretty much the end of that show!
Sunday we took the London bus tour. We were able to see just about everything, except we didn't stop and enter any of the locations. The tour was way too long! Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the London bridge, Big Ben, and St. Paul's Cathedral were just to name a few. The tour just about took the entire day. We went to a pizza restaurant and then headed back to the hostel.
Monday we went back on the tour bus and went to see the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. It wasn't running at the time, but it seemed like a beautiful place and a very unique fountain. It was neat seeing something in memory of her. We went back to the "Michigan Ave." of London and had some Chinese food. They couldn't beat Michigan Chinese though!!! :0)
Tuesday morning we took the train to the Gatwick airport and we were on our way to Amsterdam!
