 THE SINS OF THE MOTHER
Today at work something happened that really upset me. Its been a bad week for me the whole way around it would seem.

I used to work with this girl named Ashley (A for this blog). She and i were close friends even though she was much younger than me. We seemed to bond really well. She actually helped to train me in my job as far as the way things were run and such. I in turn taught her many of my cooking skills as she wasn't the greatest. But anyway we enjoyed each other's company and had a lot of fun.

A had intense loyalty to her friends and an intense temper to match. She got into an arguement with another co worker about someone and eventually they both lost their jobs bc of it. I was so sad when she left bc it was a day I wasn't there and when i returned to work it was hard. She called me when Scottie died and we talked for a little while, but since it was a bad time we didn't get to play catch up too much.

Her mother also worked at my facility. Her mother M was caught stealing from her coworkers and some residents and was fired immediately when it was discovered. A had already been gone for a while when this all came down. It was thought bc they both worked there that maybe A was involved too. This was not the case. A was innocent and only was mentioned bc it was her mother that did the crime. It was guilt by association only.

Today she came to visit me at work. I came into the kitchen and there she was. I gave her the biggest hugs and it was difficult bc shes expecting her first child. She is so happy and looks wonderful. We began talking and chatting and she hadn't seen me since I've lost so much weight. We both were a couple Chatty Cathys until the nosy receptionist barged in. 'Can i see you karen?'....I just looked at her and thought "WTF?". I went out to see what she wanted and she informed me that A was not welcome there and I was to ask her to leave. Now I'm really thinking...'WTF?'. How dare she say something so rude and nasty! She wanted ME to go into the kitchen and tell A. I told her 'Fuck NO!'. Then she told me to tell the other girl in the kitchen to do it. I said 'Hell NO!' to that too. She went on to explain that she told A to sign in the visitors book and take a pass. A did that. She then asked A where she was going and who she was visiting. A pretty much told her to 'Kiss her butt'. The receptionist told me that A wasn't suposed to be in the building bc of her mother. I looked at her and asked her then why did you let her in and now wanted me to do the dirty work. It wasn't happening.

When I wouldn't do it she got all huffy. I told her if she wanted to tell A, go for it. She didnt. She told me again to tell the other girl to do it and this time I was really nasty. She stormed off and obviously got the MOD (manager on duty). We get this phone call a few minutes later telling us to tell A she had to leave and not come back. Thank God the other girl did it bc this chick wasn't having any of it. How can they do this? How can they bar her from the building simply bc it happened to me her mother that did the crime? I thought this kind of behavior was abolished long ago. Blaming the sins of the parents on the children? This is total bullshit in my humble opinion.

A left and she was a 'lady' the entire way. I was proud of her bc the old temper stayed in check and she didn't tell those douche bags to 'fuck off' which is what she should have told them...the old bitties! Sometimes I'd just like to smack someone. Sometimes I 'd just like to knock the shit out of someone. Someday maybe I just will..............

Good for you for sticking up for your friend...I hope it doesn't cost you with your employers, but you did the right thing regardless.

You are my kind of woman!!! I agree with you. They were cowards to try and put it off on me considering she was my friend and all she wanted to do was to let me see that she was expecting and how happy she was. They're just old busybodies....:(

Thank you for the comment and the compliment. My own boss will most likely tell me I should have told A to leave when asked, but I will stick to my guns. It was not my place to do so. I feel I'm in the right here.

Thank you for saying that!

I too think it was a load of horseshit! The woman that serves as the receptionist has been at my facility since it opened and seems to think EVERYTHING is her business. She hasn't a clue as to what is really going on at all. thank you so much for the comment.
