When we told our children they couldn't fly,
their wings never grew;
When we told our children they were bad,
they hated themselves.
When we told our children they were stupid
they were chained to their ignorance, and
When we told them they couldn't trust anyone,
they did not trust themselves.
But when we told our children they could climb fences,
they soared mountains;
When we told our children they could fulfill their dreams,
their nightmares went away.
When we told our children that they could see,
they searched the heavens in wonderment and
When we told them that they could trust themselves,
others trusted them.
So we told our children to learn about everything
And they taught "US" about life.
i have had this poem since forever posted where all could see and came across it today and hope someone will get as much enjoyment as i did from it.
