It used to be on thoughts.com that I would simply just type out my words. It used to be on thoughts.com that if I wanted to send an email I would just say it. It used to be on thoughts.com if I wanted to leave a comment I would just express my tidings. Now however things have changed. Now, I am 'working' for my posts, my emails, and comments. I'm pooped!
I am so tired of typing in numbers that tell me I'm 'wrong'. I'm sick of feeling like I need 'security' just to post, comment or email. I'm not at the White House. Bush isn't around with the CIA. I'm not posting my grandmother's secret recipes or Satan's address and social security number so why do I need all these f#%$@ numbers?????? Give me a break thoughts!
The other day I wrote a joke. (in case you haven't read it, it's cute) and it took me forever to get it up. Now why should I need to have security to post a silly little joke about a little lizard? Whats the problem? Are you afraid that someone will steal it and give it to another site???? God forbid that happens!! It finally took three times to get it up. I was just about to go smoke a joint with the bear and little lizard. J/K
The other day I logged on and did a post on this site telling me i was putting in the wrong verification when i knew the numbers were the right numbers. I got some comments on it and when i went to respond to said comments I was met with what??????? MORE NUMBERS TO TYPE IN!!!!!!!! Now I have to have security to comment!!!! I actually sat and stared at this computer for a few minutes debating whether my responses were worth having to go through more crap. I've been commenting but they have been few bc I am so sick and tired of codes. We have codes for all our doors at work. I mean you can't go pee without a code to the door (hopefully you won't forget the code when you have to pee really, really bad). I just want to not 'work' so hard to enjoy a little thoughts. Call me lazy...call me 'set in my ways'.....call me whatever but first put in the code bc I'm pooped!!!

Hey SUPER K ... YOUR comments are definitely worth those extra numbers to type in.
I know they are frustrating and small, and "It's a conspiracy" but if it can stop us from the Legendary NASTIES of the world wide web, such as trojans, and mass-spammers... then I guess I am happy to play the numbers game.
By the way WE ARE all still people NOT Numbers.

I'm right there with you, Super K. In fact, my security code image is so freakin' small, I need my Super-Sonic-Over-Magnified special glasses to read the stupid thing!! Not liking the new thoughts.com layout at all.

I'm with you on this Super K. I freaked out when I realised we need to fill in numbers for comments too. Not to mention the "wrong verification code" jumping at you all the time, making you feel like an illiterate idiot!!

The "numbers" (verification code) are there to cut down on spam. Computer programs are out there that can blanket websites like this with spam. But a program can't recognize and/or fill out a verification code. Since only ppl can do that, it cuts down on spam.

It's very sad that we live in a society in which everything must be kept under lock and key. I also tire of typing in security codes and trying to remember countless passwords.
Where computers are concerned, I'm no expert, but I believe the problem is way bigger than dealing with spam. An entire web site can be hijacked with all our posts gone and Trojan horses and viruses, left on the computers of all members. Even the best virus protection is not 100% secure as new viruses are created faster than these programs can be updated.
I believe the hearts of those who run thoughts are geared toward the safety of the site members. If these codes were not absolutely necessary, they would not be there. The fault and anger should be directed at the mean spirited people, of this world, who have nothing better to do and take enjoyment in creating havoc and making the lives of others difficult. Peace.

I agree with you. Most of the improvements I can deal with but I hate the codes. they are tiny, and I have good eyes. I work for a vision insurance company and I am having trouble reading it. not to mention even the codes before would say they were wrong even when I thought they were right!!!
now I can't leave comments while I'm at work since the codes got put on the comments. I have no idea why, I can do them from home!!! ok now I'm ranting, huh? hehehe

Ok, I am jumping on the bandwagon a little late, but I agree, the security codes are frickin annoying and too darn small!!!! At least I am now confident that I am not going blind since you all seem to be having the same difficulty reading the digits as I. Phew! If you don't get this comment, it is because the code didn't really say 27439. Wish me luck..

I think it has got us all in a state of high flux but I guess we just have to get used to them. I'm just so grateful to be still on and able to comment again that I have almost forgotten those darned numbers, but I could really have done with that joke of yours over the last few days. Are you having difficulty with 7 in particular? I get so darned mad with that number and they say it is lucky? Guess what - it's waiting for me below, or is it 1. We'll soon know. Nope - it's a 1
