GOOD PLACE TO WORK! (FOR ME)
good day at work today and even better because i have off the next two days. whooooo hoooooo! i just love mondays. i also was offered the  coveted position (by me)  of the chef of the day. i will open and prepare  3 meals and get to leave at 2pm. i don't mind the early morning there. it's quiet and i turn on the radio and listen to some of my favorite music and just go to it. this morning i made melt in your mouth blueberry pancakes. i love to make the residents happy something i did in restaurants but i never got the one on one with them. i never knew who got what and i was like a robot. here i am honored when i go out and mingle with the residents and get to find out what they liked or (sometimes) disliked.  i go around to the different tables and the gentlemen like to hit on me and the women like to act like they're my mother. if gets rather comical sometimes. they were there when my little scottie passed away ( unlike some that i couldn't even talk to ), and this past week it was the 6 month  anniversary and again they were there for me and those that i thought would be were not. i'm good at my job and i love working with food. when i get 10 hugs a day from my residents and kisses on the cheeks and smiles galore i know i've done a better than average job. i finally found my niche. i found where i belong. downfall?? they are the elderly. they get sick and they die more frequently than i am used to. i've lost several already and it doesn't get any easier. they are not related but they are family. the retired bank president, the fbi agent, the beekeeper, school teachers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, housewives, secretaries, etc. are my extended eclectic (spelling wrong?) family. sometimes strangers make the better family and the better friends. i love each and every one. they say when God closes a door He opens a window and He did with me (in this instance). i've come a long way from the person that was so afraid to do anything that my hands shook when i had to hand anyone anything. i would sweat profusely with nerves. and never but never interact with the residents which is something you are suposed to do. now, i'm just Ms Chef and proud of it. everything has improved. my skills have gotten better, my shakiness has been replaced by a CALM and i no longer sweat like i've been running for 6 hrs. it's a good feeling to know you belong somewhere. now if i could stop falling asleep at the wheel on my way into work, i'd have it made. not a great blog but it's what i had on my mind today with the exception of the puppy i purchased (earlier blog). peace and harmony

I know all about the elderly becoming family...They have so much to offer and expect nothing in return....I work at the hospital on the extended care unit, so I know the feeling of loss when one of my patients dies..But to have the love and respect from the family during the worst part of their life, to know that my presents some how makes them feel better..wow it is the most rewarding feeling in the world...
