Monogomy Matters
I was driving home from work today-speeding along the god-forsaken stretch of pavement know as the interstate when a new kind of thought hit me.  Where it came from I haven't the slightest idea; nevertheless, here it is.  If we were not monogomous, would we be happier and have better relationships?

I generally steer clear of such "hot topics" as this, but I find myself feeling the need to throw this one out there.  It is comforting and utopian to believe that when you find that "one" person you will never want for another, but is it true?  I don't think so.  Take me, I am happy and loved and in love, but there are times when I think...I could love him too.  Or, could Aaron love her too?

Granted there are obvious pro's to monogomy: less chance of STD's, no "whose your baby daddy" drama, etc., but if we allowed ourselves and our "significant" others the freedom to love more than one person at a time-both physically and emotionally-would it make for happier homes?  There would be no cheating; and therefore no feeling of betrayal that comes with the act.  We wouldn't not trust, because it would be expected and ok.

I can't say for certain this is a lifestyle I really, honestly think should be welcomed.  But, if you say you've never had thoughts along the same lines, I'd be inclined to think you a liar.

we've all had those thoughts. sad commentary in a way. the very thing that you are speaking of is the very thing that rips relationships up.

I think then you have to deal with divided attentions. Such as, I've had a bad day and I want to spend time in the arms of my favorite guy, but he's in the arms of someone else because he's had a bad day and thinks she is his favorite girl -- not you. It's always complicated....

my thought? The human heart is not capable of fully loving more than one person at a time. Not to say you can't love your children and your spouse, but not more than one "spouse" at a time. That to me is not complete and true love.

Just my thought. I don't share well with others though ;)

I don't either, but it's something that just found its way into my brain.

I think it depends on the individual. Most people I think are too jealous to have an "open" relationship. I'm pretty sure that I would be. However, I have heard of some people who have them and apparently don't have any significant problems with it, at least none that they aren't willing to live with.
