So I was thinking about the movie "Knocked Up" when the little girl says...."I googled murder..." and then that got me thinking about Whitters checking out the death row stuff, so I googled TX death row and got a big old slice of sickening sunshine. This in turn got me thinking about a girl I went to school with whose brother is in prison for the murder of his pregnant sister in law. So I googled him.
Some innocence project out of New York took on his case, I believe he was previously on death row in FL, where the murder happened. It boils down to he was staying with his brother and the brother's wife, brother was on a Navy ship off coast, he got drunk, passed out, and woke up to find 3 fires in the aptartment and his sister-in-laws bloody body in the bedroom. He was 19. He is now 32. DNA recently proved that he didn't do it.
I don't know how he has managed to not crack up completely. I don't know how it is that his sister, mom and dad have been able to carry on and have semi-normal lives knowing the whole while that he may never get out. And now, he didn't do it. It boogles my mind to imagine what this family (as well as the victim's family) went through. Did they ever doubt his innocence? Do they feel guilty for their thoughts/actions? I'm not saying that they should, it just seems we always blame ourselves for things that are so far beyond our control.
He is still waiting for a hearing date, I'm not sure why. But I am sure I hope he gets out and gets out soon. Think of all those years taken from you that you can never get back. The memories you never got to make. All I know is that this family held it together over the past 13 years like I have never seen anyone hold it together.
Thirteen years. That is half of my life. I guess I was too young to know what was what when it all happened, but now that I've looked it through and I know the family like I do, I am left feeling more than simply "disturbed".

Have I told you lately how much I like you?
If you were here, I could so hang out with you and enjoy every minute of it. You are so much like me, it's almost scary.
This line, "so I googled TX death row and got a big old slice of sickening sunshine." is something I wish I would have thought of to use. Very clever.
It's sickening to read, yet I can't tear myself away. I will definitely think twice about letting anyone borrow "sugar" - hello knife in my eye, or use the phone - strangled raped and left for dead. NO THANK YOU.

If it's true that he didn't do it, then the government will either kill him anyways, or give him a heck of a lot of money as an "apology".
