Yesterday I had to go to the doctor for three seperate appointments. 8:30, 12:30 and 3:00. My first little date was for an MRI. And seeing as I don't have insurace they first sent me down to the first floor to the insurance desk to verify that I did not, in fact, have insurance. And was I aware that I would be fully responsible for paying the medical bill I was going to get. Really? Then they sent me down into the basement to the Patient Accounts Center to see if I qualified for any sort of help from the state...we I don't have a kid, so no. I do not qualify. If I were to go ahead and get knocked up, the government would gladly step in and provide food, shelter, healthcare and whatever else at little or no cost to me. However, should you try live an honest life where supporting yourself is a priority-well, the government has nothing to say to you. How backwards is that? So by the time I was done running in circles and able to do the MRI it was 10:00. Nice.
So the MRI was just too much fun. Make me wear a pretty paper gown-shove me into a plastic helmet device and then proceed to put me on a rock hard little excuse of a bed-stick me head first in a plastic tube and then go ahead and operate what sounded like a damn jackhammer all over the outside of the large gerbil tube they put me in. By the time I was done with that I had one hell of a headache.
I had some time to kill so I went to a local thrift store. Not only did I manage to find a guy who looked like Dog the Bounty Hunter's brother, but I also got to hear his entire life story. Perfect. I never asked. I saw an Amish family there, stocking up on ice skates like they were going out of style. They smelled really bad...the people, not the skates. After that lovely experience it was on to the EEG.
I sat through the 25 minute process of GLUING these wires to my head, then got to take a nap. However, after I got home I spent an hour peeling dried super glue off my scalp. I looked like I had some serious dandruff going on. And guess what? I've still got some clinging to me. Good news is, I don't have a brain tumor or epilepsy. Good to know.
