 Going Postal
What a way to start the week.  At eight o'clock on the dot I found myself "waiting" for my turn at the post office.  Sadly, I was the only person in the building not wearing a uniform.  When the lady behind the counter was finally "available" to help me I stepped up and proudly handed her my certified letter to the IRS (for work, not me).  Well, for the love of god, if it could be any more difficult to mail a letter I think I might sprout wings and fly away.

After meticulously examing the damn thing (with a ruler, mind you) she peered over her glasses at me like I just crawled out from under a rock.  "You are going to need another $0.23 on this package young lady..."  She then went on to give me the horribly dry details of how my envelope was 1/2 centimeter over the allowed width for the postage I had put on it.  So, not only did I have have to fish out twenty three cents from the bottom of my purse, I also had to explain why I felt it necessary to put a barcode sticker on upside down.  How humiliating (by this time a nice crowd had gathered behind me).  In my defense, a barcode is a barcode and if there is a "right" way to put it perhaps they should add a label stating "this side up".

Now that I have begun my day by hurling myself down the proverbial hill of humiliation, I'm off to see what other exciting adventures I could possibly embark on.  Maybe I'll make this Monday extra special and head down to the DMV for my daily dose of sunshine.

Ack! Not the DMV- don't do it! You might not come out alive!
Anyway, just stumbled upon your blog and feel really bad about your sorry morning ("young lady," doncha just hate that?), but your writing is SOOOOOO funny- does it make you feel better that your pain brought laughter to others across the internet? No? Oh. Well, anyhoo. Keep writing! :)

Yes, it does make me feel better. At least then I am suffering for something.

If it makes you feel any better, the person behind you probably had a harder time.
