My sister was is bipolar and in a very similar situation to your son. We persuaded her to check herself into an institution for awhile. They finally got her on the right mix of meds. But now she is going downhill again, sleeping, being irrational, etc. I guess my point to this was that I know how hard it is, and it makes it even harder when they do not want to listen and take their meds. Good luck.

Volunteering sounds like a great idea. You'd could go to the VA (obviously), Animal Shelter, Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. Bonus: You'd meet new people and feel better about yourself. Great idea, I love it.
