 annoyed with the media
ok, so here's another post...and yes I am writing it within 10 minutes of my last one. I'm worked up, though. I was watching some TV yesterday and during one of the commercial breaks of the show I was watching, again, ONE of the commercial breaks, there were 4 ads for things to make women "look and feel" different, and one ad for a guys electric razor. The girls ads consisted of moisturizer to make you look younger, mascara, shampoo to make your hair shinier, and I believe another age defying product (can't remember exactly). I didn't think about it at first, but then I realized how absolutely ridiculous this was. It's no wonder that female teens and young adults have so many problems these days with eating disorders...slutiness...everything. Look at what is in ONE commercial break. It's all about how females can improve their appearances. And I'm not saying that guys just have it easy and don't have to worry about anything. I mean, according tothe media, they don't, which is great. Why on earth, though, is it such a huge deal for girls? I know this has been a topic for ever and ever, but wow, come on. Can't we just accept people for who they are? Not that it's not good to look good, but apperently guys can look good without any product help, so shouldn't girls be able to as well? Anyways...just something that annoys me. I was just reading something about how someone wanted to be skinnier...and 9 out of 10 women would say that...but what defines skinny? Right now, the media, but really, how do you know if you're skinny or not? Are you just average, are you thin, are you skinny, underweight...?

I know exactly what you mean. I hate how the media portrays a woman. Skinny, ribs showing, it's disgusting. Maryln Monroe was a size 16, she was beautiful. Women are supposed to be curvy like that, meat on their bones. But since to the media that's fat, everyone other girl wants to be a size zero making me want to feed them. Bullshit right?
