Good Evening!
I decided that a blog would be a great way to continue to support my clients, as well as, an opportunity to build a deeper connection with you. I will post through out the week. I hope that you will visit often as I offer words of comfort and support. Other days, I may simply share random thoughts! Please feel free to comment on anything I may have shared. There will be opportunities as well to reflect on my latest post!
Well, it has been a great weekend! As I traveled north to camp, I had much on my mind. Many of us struggle from time to time with anxiety. For some it is a constant nagging, for others, it comes and goes as the situation arises. I found myself feeling anxious as I headed to camp. Although I was looking forward to spending the time with the family, I had much to do both at my home and work. How do we learn to 'let it go' so that we can be present with our loved ones?
Often there are 'loose ends' to wrap up. We may plan to do them when we get back...or we can be sure to take care of all the details prior to leaving for the weekend. It is always benefical to complete the tasks at hand before going home for the weekend. This allows us the ability to focus on our family. There is no need to worry if something has gotten done, or if we will have time to finish it on Monday. No, instead, I chose to be sure all details were comppleted prior to leaving the office for the weekend. As I drove 1.5 hours to camp, alone, I spent that time unwinding emotionally from a hectic day at the office. Once I arrived at camp, I was mentally prepared to be ever-present with my family.
Next time you find yourself mentally 'elsewhere,' be sure to take the time to unwind PRIOR to spending time with the family. Not only will you feel more relaxed, but present for all the memories you will be creating!
Share with me how you 'unwind' on your way home from the office!
