ok so ive been growing out my hair for about a year. of course, i had a few trims here and there--but about 2 weeks ago i went to go get my hair re-layered and looking not so drab. im a short hair fan, i rarely like to have my hair long...mainly bc i feel like longer hair means more maintenance. blah. im trying to grow out my hair to about 13-14 inches, so that it can be donated to locks of love. i was inspired by my aunt's cancer diagnosis. this is the second time i will be donating; my patience is wearing thin (lol) and i wish it was long enough now. right now, the ends are a little past my bra strap (along my back)...so i suppose im close. maybe another year?
the first time i donated my hair, it was almost on a whim. i was in high school, and i was doing some volunteer work at a children's hospital. around christmas time, my organization and i went for the holiday celebrations when i met a little girl who had been diagnosed w/ a rare cancer. we bonded, and she spent of her time on my lap playing w/ my long hair. she wore a wool cap over her head, she had lost much of her hair bc of chemo. i asked her what she wanted for christmas, and her big, beautiful eyes looked up at me and said, "im going to ask santa for some new hair! what do u think?"
the next day, i got 12 inches of my hair chopped out...leaving the length at the ends a little past my chin. i requested that my hair be sent to the little girl i had met at the hospital. the wig made from my hair was beautiful, and when we sent to her...i signed it "from santa." sadly, a few months later, i had heard that she had passed.
thinking back on that, and thinking about my aunt...my family and i are very fortunate for the successful surgery. i cant wait for the day she gets her new wig.
as for my decoration woes, its on full force. im just really picky at how i want things to look, and im super anal about coordinate...and possibly behaving in a tad bit OCDish manner. i bought some cute wall decorations, but they're for my bathroom...so to be quite frank, i dunno if that counts! since moving into a new apt, ive decided to change the "theme" for my bathroom and my bedroom...but common living spaces such as the kitchen and living room ideas have to be coordinated w/ my roomies. tomorrow, im going to look for a cute painting we can hang on the wall in our living room. we have so much wall space, and pretty much nothing to put there.
as for my skin, i have a blemish right in between my eyebrows. its like my third eye--literally. i kept messing w/ it so its a little inflammed right now and not looking hot. hopefully tomorrow morning, i wont be disappointed in the spot treatment i bought today! ive also decided to give the oil of olay microdermabrasion set a try. maybe i'll write about it here as a review/skin care journey part 484375809? i read good reviews on MUA, so hopefully i'll be happy w/ the results.
