 Warhammer: Age of Reckoning

Throughout my life I have been a pretty hard-core gamer. From 10-12 hour session of Zelda, Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior as a child. All the way up to Hundreds of thousands of Football games with Super Tecmo Bowl, Hockey games with over 15 years of EA's NHL, as well as a Sinister passion for THQ's old N64 wrestling games WcW and WwF throughout my teens. I have also been a fan of Role Playing Games. From Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Call of Cthulu with Trips to various other Tabletop Pen&Paper RPG to the Digital worlds of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Crystalis, and way to many others to list. For the better part of 18 years I thought I was like a Gaming God. then I met Everquest. A never ending role-playing adventure with actual people across the world. I have spent 7104+ hours and counting in the last nine years on just one of my many character. Add in forays into the World of Warcraft and Everquest 2 and I would say u could probably attribute nearly 15000hours which is close to 2 years of the last nine sitting in from of my computer leveling, questing, and Raiding. I have never been able to start out one of these games and hit the ground running testing myself with the rest of the world on a level playing field. For one reason or another always starting late and playing catch up for years left wondering what could of been.

Today however that changes. Today for me and thousands of other WAR has come. Nearly 12days before the rest of the World today after over 1 year of waiting war has come to an end. I first heard of Warhammer Age of Reckoning in a Beckett Online Gaming Magazine that I have not since seen on New-stands. It talked about a successful developer Mythic (The creators of Dark Age of Camelot) and its Powerhouse publisher EA putting together a MMORPG based on Games Workshop tabletop Miniature Strategy/RPG warhammer. I seen success.. Warhammer seamed set to battle Warcraft for MMO supremcy. I wanted to be a part. I rebuilt my computer and applied for the closed beta. I never did get the Beta invite but I have waited patiently since until Today.

In a little bit under an hour I will start a new adventure. I don't know where it will take me. If it will lead me on another decade long endeavor like Everquest or leave me bored and wanting more like Warcraft and Everquest to did. Is this the next great MMO or the next great bust( See Lord of the Rings: Online. Dungeons and Dragons Online, or Vanguard: Saga of Heros). However what I can not wait for is a chance to start with the elusive clean slate with everyone else. I miss the unknown the sense of accomplishment u feel when u level or discover something new.. I long for my starting years on Everquest looking up to so many and not being able to wait for the next time I logged in. WAR provides me with the chance to experience the unknown and that is something that I have gone on for to long with out.
