 once upon a time
i once had a friend
she will remain nameless
and i thought she was the world, the best, the cream to my coffee and everything in between. we hit the ground running and it was like the sister of the fucking traveling pants. i'm talking legos here.
but then she turned out to be a darker breed of humanity and somehow light just reflected off of her. i mistook that reflection for something she had created and it blinded me from seeing her true bleak colors.
what do you say when you stop being friends with someone?
no one seems to get the idea because friendships fade all the time, it hardly registers as significant anymore. breakups with lovers are crushing, the death of a pet can bring you to your knees...but a friend? dime a dozen, sweetheart, don't waste your breath vying for sympathetic ears.
and so i put her out of my mind and heart and pretended that she didn't exist. ever.
she is my own personal area 51.
i just think that we as a whole society aren't raising heathens...the world is not going to pot because we don't raise our children to be better adults...the world is going to pot because we are teaching ourselves how to be heartless.
