"You might want to sit down...I'm pregnant!"
After three years of dating, Roni and I finally got engaged in late October of 2006. It felt right and I knew that I loved her very much. In fact, one of the things that we had done at the beginning of our relationship was joke about how we were going to have 10,001 babies together because they would all be so cute. Along comes Novemeber of 2006 when I come home with flowers for Roni (just because) and a bottle of wine (just because, and don't judge me) to see her sitting in the chair with a pale, saddend look on her face. She told me to sit down because there was something that she needed to tell me. Immediately I had a million thoughts running through my head. Had she cheated on me? Had someone died? Strangely enough, what she was about to tell me hadn't even popped into my mind. We were going to have a baby! I said very little. I asked if she was okay, and if she was absolutely positive. My next thoughts went to wondering how we were going to tell her dad and my mom. We were engaged, but we both come from Catholic families and having a baby prior to the wedding tends to be frowned apon. What would they say? Would they be embarrassed or disappointed in us? So long story short, Roni went in for a doctors appointment on May 24, only nine days before her June 2nd due date. She called me after she left the doctors office and said that they were going to induce her the next morning. Nothing up to that point in my life had really kicked started me into getting shit done as the idea that in less than 24 hours I would be a father. That's when it finally hit me.
