Look at the innocent smile they hold
seeing a rainbow, a promise of gold,
watch as they play in a park such fun
skipping, jumping, see how they run.
Listen to them whilst games they play
so funny the things you hear them say,
yet I can recall when I was that young
how life was a dream, songs we sung.
Like my children now with imagination
a playground I made, a world of creation,
swings became planes to soar in the sky,
the ground was the ocean that over I fly.
Just like them now they climb on a frame
in pretence it’s a mountain, I did the same,
a slide, a shoot from a Thunderbirds scene
it’s off to a rescue, just look how they're keen.
The world is their oyster, life is a dream
so happy their faces see how they beam,
how sad it is knowing children will grow
losing these times in childhood we show. |
