 Cassia Fraijo

Cassia is my 14 year old...She started with an acute pain in her belly...after a few problems in Tucson we were sent by ambulance to Phoenix Children's Hospital.....it took six days from onset, until she had enough symptoms and something for them to culture for them to come up with a probable diagnosis.....
Clostridium difficile-induced colitis (also called antibiotic-associated colitis and pseudomembranous colitis)
She was on antibiotics about two months ago.....

The CT scan from last night did not show a need for surgery.....
We are believing her healing is in progress....
Jehovah-Rapha....the Lord that healeth thee...
May our Lord Jesus Christ give her freedon fom anxiety as she recovers....
Thank You for your prayers....

Tonight all is quiet ....this is the first night that Daniel has left before 1am.....
We have Cassia resettled...back in a regular room...this is our sixth room since arriving here last Thursday evening....
I told Cassia that after this experience I am going to write a book.....Information for parents that have a child in the hospital...it can be so confusing at times.....what one nurse likes....another doesn't want you to do.....each one has their own way of doing things......it all may be OK *according to the books* but not everything works as well.....
One thing I am learning at the risk of making a few people upset.....If your "gut reaction is that it doesn't sound right" question it and find out who gave the order.
Yesterday the ICU doctors gave orders for Cassia to start solid foods "anything she thought she could keep down".....and nothing did.....she had almost a projectile type vomiting.....
This morning I questioned the GI Doctor as to what foods to avoid.....he was appalled that she was on anything but clear liquids at this stage of the game.....Wrote specific orders for nothing but clear liquids....he told Cassia that what she drinks is only to make her more comfortable....IE
wet her mouth and throat....
because of incidents like this I try very hard to be in the room when all the doctors come....which could be anytime of the day.......
Don't get me wrong...I truly believe it was Devine intervention that sent us to Phoenix to this hospital.....but even those with the best of intentions make mistakes....and every time you get a new team of nurses...there are a few bumps to iron out.....
As it stands now....barring a supernatural miracle....we will probably be here all of next week....
For what we are dealing with the healing process is slow....
By His Grace...we're going to make it.

Cassia is improving a little every day...today physical therapy was in and got her up out of bed ...just a walk to the door of her room and back completely wore here out....
We make a little progress forward...and sometimes a half step backwards in her recovery...
today they put her back only on ice chips....the fluids she was drinking seemed to pool in her stomach...then come out in a gush...today it happened while one of the GI doctors was in checking her....nothing like a demonstration to help them get the picture....not sure if I sent you this before but this is what we are dealing with...Clostridum diffcile colitis
