| Maisons Laffitte - North West Paris Suburb

We have also stayed in Maisons Laffitte using a different Keycamp site called Camping International and I also wrote a review for that site. it is, again, my own work ...............
We travelled to this site last Sept (2006) from Calais by car and whilst the directions we had didn't take into account the roadworks that were happening, we found it fairly easy to find once we negotiated the one way system.
Camping International is near both a busy river, The Seine, with barges sounding horns through the day and for most of the night, and near a busy main rail line making this site, in my opinion, not one for peace and quiet at night. Saying that though, my parents stayed here too and didn't hear any trains or barges overnight but their caravan was in the middle row and ours was at the waters edge. Apart from this one negative, anything else about the site is a positive experience on our parts.
We booked via Keycamp as we do every year and this is one of the bigger sites. Caravans are closer together than other sites, such as Fontainebleau, and not so 'private' but of the usual exceptionally high standard we have come to expect of Keycamp. Site reps were helpful when around and always available for booking out and booking in times.
As for Maison Lafitte itself; what can I say? Typically French Parisian suburb. Just 20 minutes from Paris itself and a 30 minute train journey direct to Disneyland. This town is a perfect choice of those who want to see Paris but don't want the expense of a French hotel/apartment. We stayed here for less than £400 including 3 day passes to Disney for 2 adults. A direct train meant a short 15 minute walk to the town for the station and the train stopped outside the Disney Hotel itself, perfect!
Coming home after a long day shopping or riding rides, I can highly recommend the Coté Sud a restaurant just across the road from the station. You MUST have the chocolate mousse for pudding it is to die for! We also had a Chinese meal in a restaurant that can be found at the bottom end of the town and round to the right. The best meat for a BBQ can be found in the butchers near the train station but away from the town going back towards the camp site, opposite a Renault garage. the supermarket is well stocked too with plenty of French fare with a huge selection of cheeses.
All in all a 5 star site, if a little noisy for our liking. However, we do plan on going back next year for an early holiday before our daughter starts school in Sept purely because it is so easy to travel to Disney and Paris from this site without having to drive. We are using Keycamp again this year, again in Sept but are using an old favourite Camping La Croix du Vieux Pont near Berny Riviere.
