I and We
***************
Our anger was bursting out,
We were fighting with them
With swords, sticks, and stones,
Whatever weapons, we could claim.
We attacked them with might,
Our hatred and anger was at peak,
They were enemies, our opponents,
. No other reason was to seek.
Our enemies were equally furious,
They resisted with all the might,
Some innocents were also attacked,
Weapon does not know, wrong or right.
I got a blow on my head,
And unconsciously fell down,
After a while, I got some sense,
The crowd had gone in the town.
I saw a man falling beside,
Crying with pain; on the ground,
Lot of people were badly hurt,
Horrible scene was all-around.
We gazed at each other, without word,
He warmly put his hand on my head,
I sensed a divine healing, in my pain,
I could read, what his eyes said.
Tightly, my shaking arms round his waist,
I helped that unknown man to stand,
I upheld my foe, shivering with pain,
He patted me like a friend.
Crowd had deprived me of conscience,
To diffuse me in extreme fury,
I was ‘we’ in the rule of the mad mob,
Where blind was the judge, and deaf, jury.
