The rose upon my chest,
Took a dive downtrodden earth.
At a reception for new married.
A new couple God gave birth
Of golden,glistening wedding bands.
As I glided from the dance floor.
Without anyone hand in hand.
I lost my breathe in fleeted gasps.
My heart hammered in flutter..
And I lost all of my selfworth...
Finality...
Closed door.
My loss of you to another.
My eyes flooded with sheepish tears.
As you bid hello.
Never thinking that you'd acknowledge me.
In your presence I'd bestowed.
And I wanted to forget you.
Past thoughts that made me ill.
Of pain and joy and things mixed between.
In the end no magic pill.
I had really thought that time would heal...
That I'd have forgotten what once had been.
And the pain and cuts of losing you,
The wounds would finally congeal.
And I'd dance the tune of love again.
At you sat there with your family,
And with a man I dreamed was I.
And where the best man came in second best.
I realised and finally reconciled....
That life truly had passed me by.
