A mother's love
I was sitting in the doctors office one day a week or so ago, and a mother walked in with her daughter. Her daughter could have only been around 16 years old, and looked to be in her last trimester of pregnancy. I began to think about how difficult it is to be young, and all the choices these young kids have to make. Too many choices at such a young age is never a good thing. The consequences are too great for them to understand. I then started thinking of Trevorjohn and her sweet son. A young boy who just made a bad choice, nothing more than a bad choice, but it nearly destroyed his life at a very young age. We have got to find new ways to help guide our children in making better choices and avoiding these bad ones. The temptation for teenage sex will always be out there, so what do we do about that??? How do we fight against temptation??? The drugs will always be readily available to young kids, so how will we teach them to stay away from them???   I wrote this Poem for Trevorjohn as I sat in that waiting room that day.

A Mothers Love

Come back, be safe my smiling child,
you have so much more to learn,
this shadow cast upon your youth,
has left you scared and burned.

Don’t ever fear the darkness,
it is only but the night…
The dawn’s just hours away now,
with it will come the light.

The poisons took control of you,
and stole you from my grip…
I fought, I cried, I nearly died,
each time I watched you slip.

Understand My Son you’re not alone,
I won’t ever walk away…
Take my hand, you have the strength
to get through another day.

But now's your time for healing…
the lessons learned were tough…
I know you'll come through shining…
Like my diamond in the rough!!

What a great poem..Trevorjohn will be so happy to know that you were thinking of her as you wrote this..

Yes tempations are out there so strong for our young, but we need to keep reminding them of the effects it will have on their future and all relationships they will ever have.
Bless you for writing about this.

This was amazingly beautiful.
What a beautiful gift that I'm sure Trevorjohn will want to give to her son. Thanks for writing and sharing these hopeful, encouraging words. You need to see about getting your work published. The world needs to see the words that come from your heart. Peace.

Keepdreaming I had to come back again and say WOW!!! My heart is swelling.
I was in the card shop looking for a special card for my Son and I just couldn't find anything that really jumped out at me, well this certainly did, so I'm gonna make a card for him!
That's when it hit me, maybe you should use your talents on writing cards. Cards about real life stuff, cards about the stuff people on this site are going thru.
Peace my friend

Hollis, thank you, you are right!! What I keep reminding my kids is that, they are only young such a short time, but the choices they make during those brief years could effect their entire lifetime. So I urge them to come to me with questions and concerns, and NEVER make a choice they are not comfortable making. God Bless!

Colorado, you always leave the sweetest comments! I wish I could shrink you and keep you in my purse...that way I'd always have a special, kind person to talk to anytime I'd want. (although you might have an entire new opinion of me if you'd see the inside of MY purse...it's a disaster :) People like you are very rare. Thank You Sweetie!

risingmoonfart, thank you for complimenting the poem, that was very sweet. The poem was written for another Mother here on Thoughts, whos son is struggling through a very difficult time. Although Trevor is not my son, he very well could be,(in the sense that any of our children could be going through something like this) so I am able to empathize greatly with Trevorjohn. Let all keep her and her son in our prayers as they go through this. God Bless!

TrevorJohn...Now those "Sniff Sniffs" Better not have meant you smelt something stinky???? LIKE THAT POEM??? hee-hee. I'm teasing you!
You are Very Welcome for that...it's from one mother to another. I can't say I know what you are going through, but I can say I do feel your pain, at least some of it. I feel it by the things you have posted, and by just getting to know you through Thoughts. It's almost like we were sisters in a former life. I've never met you, but I feel an unusual connection to you. Something inside me wants to help you. I can't explain it, and I don't understand it.
About your greeting card idea...that is funny you mentioned that...I've been told by my sisters several times to do that. But I just can't "Sell" my poetry. It's to much a part of me. I have sold many other forms of my art, but never my poetry. It comes from my heart and is given with a lot of love, I'd never put a price tag on it, nor could I ever profit from someones else's heartaches. But you are so sweet to be thinking of ways for me to use my talents...keep think'in...I need all the help I can get! God Bless Sweetie!

overthehillandfaraway, your comment is beautiful and humbles me, but if the "angel in her path" you are referring to is me, I am by no means anyone's angel, I'm just a mother, who is able to put myself in others shoes. I'm a girl who has loved and lost in more than one way, and knows the true meaning of a broken heart. If I could I would erase all pain from this earth. God Bless!

You're not 'just a mother', you're a great mother who is using her own experiences to help others. Broken hearts heal, once you learn to forgive. It doesn't mean you have to forget. I think you are doing a wonderful job. Elaine

You are very kind and sweet overthehillandfaraway!! Not all broken hearts are due to someone doing something to us, that would qualify them the need our forgiveness. Some broken hearts are deeper than a relationship gone bad. For me the big one was the loss of my Mother as a young girl. It taught me that no one is exempt from a broken heart, and no matter how great we love, it can be taken from us in a blink of an eye, so we better never take it for granted. We need to teach our young kids to make the very best of their lives...and we need to be shining examples for them. Thank you Elaine for your sweet words.
God Bless You!!

Sorry Keepdreaming, it was wrong of me to assume things. I do totally understand your hurt. I work as a team member in the Ministry of Divine Healing so I see a lot of broken hearts which only forgiveness can heal. Losing a mother so young is a hurt you carry all your life but it appears to me she left behind a wonderful daughter. It's wonderful that you bring your kids up that way and very encouraging for others. God bless, Elaine

Thank you DS,
It just tugs at my heart to think what Trevorjohn and her son went through, and are still going through. He's just a young boy with his entire future waiting for him. Kids don't realize how fast their youth passes them by, and their adulthood lasts the rest of their lives. Those few vulnerable years make such a difference.
God Bless!
