Finally! Something worth writing about!! We are in Texas and have a house. Stephen found this house a couple months back and moved in, so thanks to his unpacking my job has been very easy down here. We got here June 25 early in the evening, though it would have been earlier had we both not read the map wrong and made a small detour through Oklahoma City; about 60 miles extra. Oh, well. I guess God doesn't want us to make this trip in less than 12 hours.
The house is fantastic. The outside needs ALOT of work, but the inside is great. Mostly the outside just needs siding. But it has central air and that is really all a person needs around here to survive. Did I mention it's hot here?! Tomorrow it is to be 83 degrees. We think we may need our coats. I have given up on make up and doubled up on deodorant!! I step outside and instantly the sweat starts running. I told mom the other day that if you buy a cold meal at the store and put it in the back of the truck it will be cooked and ready to serve by the time you get home; and I only live about 10 minutes from the store!!!! This should make us appreciate the cold temperatures of New York when we get there, right? The boys have one room here at the house that is simply their toy room. They love it. They would like to be outside more, but right now our yard isn't fenced in so they're staying in for now. Monday we are going to the pool and hopefully the YMCA. I love the opportunity we have to do things like that. We give up some freedoms and gain a few special things too. Monday we start back to reading with Hayden. I've given him two weeks off from structured reading. He's been reading books to me though and he has really been doing well. He's making progress. He has been my little helper while we've been getting settled. He and Hadley both have a loose tooth right now, so of course they're competing to see who will lose it first. Hudson thinks he should have a loose one too. I love how he says "Texas". It is very clear and very southern. It's funny how quickly the local words become part of their vocabulary. Though it's happened to my husband too. This morning I asked him something and he said, "Yes, sir." !! I hadn't been insulted yet, so I took that for my daily quota! The seal around the drain in my ktichen sink went bad and our landlord told me that the seal in my "basket" was bad. I'm sure I will be getting a lesson in Texas before this is all said and done. I better wrap this up before it becomes a novel. We miss you all!!!
