| It's A Decision Nobody Should Have To Make...
|
|
|
And yet, everyone has to make it at least once in their life...
Here it is -- ready?
Should I stay or should I go?
Haha. No, it's not a sad joke. It's my current problem. Here's the deal...
I can move back to my hometown in Texas and see the friends I love so much there
-OR-
I can stay here for a while longer with the friends I love so dearly here.
Now, here's how I made this decision for me a bit easier. I say, a BIT easier. It's hard to choose between friends, ya' know? :/
First: Make a list of pros and cons and (optional) add a point system to show which are most important to you.
Argument: Moving To Texas
My point system:
+/-2 = important to me
+/-1 = just a small perk
Pros
+ See my old friends (+2)
+ More opportunities in school (+2)
+ Go to school w/out uniforms (+1)
+ More freedom (+2)
+ Parents have more money (+1)
+ Get to see some family members (+1)
(Total = 9)
Cons
+ Leave my current friends (-2)
+ Won't be w/ my parents (-2)
+ Live w/ my grandparents who smoke (-1)
(Total = 6)
Mkay. Obviously moving to Texarkana is the better choice. Notice I've italicized one reason in both the categories. Those are my main reason for leavin/staying.
Second: Name the exact reason you'd like stay/go.
Pro: I need more opportunities in school. I'm about to start highschool next year! I need all the highschool credits I can get, and my school in Texas is a good place to earn them!
Con: My friends here are probably the best friends I've ever had, and I love them to DEATH. I'll miss them terribly. Everybody knows that the buds make the decision harder than hell.
Third: Identify which is more important to you. If they are both equally important (like they were for me), see if you can determine a compromise with yourself.
Most Important: Pro/Con/Equal
Compromise (if needed): I can always stay in touch with my friends! I have their phone numbers, emails, Myspace, etc. I can even possibly visit them sometime. Look at it in a positive way; I'm not losing my friends. Leaving isn't forgetting; it's just giving yourself new opportunities.
Fourth: Decision time. This may take you a few days like it has me. But I've finally decided, after doing this for myself.
My Decision: Time to go home. I'm going back to Texarkana.
(: Good luck. I put the template-ish thing below if you want to use this without all of my descriptions and what-not. There's also a link below for a page that has a pro/con list maker that's kind of like this one. (: I know, I'm a loser.
