Untouched Grace
By: Kassandra Brooks
Squishing footprints upon the sand
The golden grains so soft and sticky.
The seagulls floating graceful towards the land
Watching for waves that could be tricky.
Picking up agates, they're smooth like silk
The amber sunset bidding me ado.
Those fluffy clouds, as white as milk
Glancing upon the gorgeous view.
The fire from the sun licks the skies
And travels towards my gleeful eyes.
The monstrous blue attacking the shore
Its thunderous waves they boom and roar.
Charcoaled wood floats out upon the sea
Its barky essence charred to the bone
Taken out further then the eye can see
Its blackened wood, cold and alone.
The wind it blows with all its might,
A master of chaos into the night.
The coldness licking upon my toes,
So cold in fact they might have froze.
Indigo jeans pulled up to my knees
The water upon them was doing what it pleased.
The ground was shaky with holes and dips,
But I still held a smile upon my salt-stained lips.
Leaving the place of chaos and fun
But I would be back to see it become---
Once again my rightful place.
Missing my beach of untouched grace.
