Chapter 1: Walk Around Town
January 1st, 2008
Ryoji Achine walked around Tokyo, Japan. He had only moved here on advice from the vampire, Kai, who had turned him in the first place. According to Kai, Tokyo was the ideal place for a vampire to live, for with millions of people, he could feed endlessly and not get caught. A few disappearances of non-important people was sure to go unnoticed. So, last year, Ryoji had left his mother, father, and younger sister, all of who had no knowledge of his vampiric nature, at the young age of seventeen. In a few months, he would be eighteen. Right now, he was just a fledgling. He kept in contat with them via email, IM, text messaging, and phone calls. He missed them soetimes, but got used to his solitary life. Besides, he had spotted a few girls at school he wouldn't mind getting close to. Ryoji was in his senior year. Then he planned to go to the University of Japan. He had managed to attain a 4.0 in his grades thus far. He had kept them up in hopes of obtaining a few scholarships to take care of his college tuition, since his parents couldn't afford it. He'd saved up $3,000 from working when he lived with his parents. That was a start, but it wasn't enough to cover four years tuition. He looked forward to his eighteen birthday, for the he would become a darkling, a full-fledged, adult vampire. He had to think about finding a mate soon so that he could continue the clan. Whoever was the female that he turned before the eve of his eighteenth birthday would become his mate for all of eternity, and more importantly to Ryoji, his lover. He was a virgin, but he intended that to change before he turned eighteen.
