Memory Loss

I think of my past, and I visualize my most potent memories. It's hard and angers me that we will lose our memories when we die. We will have no recollection of our childhood, our love life, our families, or our children. It's sad to think about. Most of my memories are from when I am nine years and older. I don't really remember anything about my childhood. It's difficult to overcome that, but I've dealt with it. I see my son, and pray that God has mercy on my memory when I die. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't remember my sweetheart. I love him dearly. Memories are meant as a keepsake in our minds, a sort of picture show that we subconsciously visit in our most vivid and realistic dreams. Time spent sleeping serves a purpose: it's to process our memories, emotions, responses, and wishes. We all have dreams, and far too few people actually have the courage and gall to fulfill them. We all need to help each other realize our most ambitious dreams, before it's too late. God created us for a purpose, and we need to find, pursue, and complete our destiny during this lifetime. Our lives are short, and most are not lived to their full potential. We must use what precious time we have to get close to God, learn about him and his son and the sacrifice he made for all of our sins, and to love those closest to us. Then again, the Bible says, "Love thy enemy as thyself." Or something like that. I don't want to misinterpret the Bible. We all must learn to love one another, despite differences, racism, and hatred. In the end, love will save us all. It will be all that we have left. Memories should be cherished and preserved in things such as a photo album or a scrapbook. We should all enjoy our memories while we can because with age comes a loss of them. If we didn't have memories, we wouldn't have life. Who would be alive as a whole soul without memories of their first bike ride, or of their first day of highschool, or their first college exam? Memories make up a part of our brains that need to be nourished daily and frequently. Without them, we wouldn't be human. Memories are special, and should be treated that way. Far too often, the people we love leave us, but it is with the memory of them that stays in our hearts that they are still here in spirit.
