Athenia Constantine walked pointedly down the street, headed for the old restaurant that her family used to visit whenever they went out to eat. It was called the "Crab Shack." She went in and ordered her usual, which was King Crab with shrimp on the side, complimented with a hand tossed garden salad. Waiting on her order, she looked around.
Athenia's fangs came out as she puzzled over one guy sitting all alone in the corner. When he looked over at her, she looked away.
One mustn't be caught staring, she told herself.
But this guy was unlike any she had ever seen. She looked back to him, taking all of his charm in.
His hair was a deep shade of blond, his eyes a warm forest green. When she noticed that she was staring, he got up and came over.
She was caught quite surprised, but withdrew her fangs anyway.
"Hello," Athenia said quietly.
"Good evening," he replied, equally as softspoken. "What's a beautiful woman like yourself doing eating alone?"
"Well, I don't have a man to eat with..." She said. "Or friends of any sort..." She added as an afterthought.
"Perhaps I can help fill the void," he said.
"What's your name?" She asked, still looking up into his gorgeous eyes.
"Eros Zoraster. And yours, my fair maiden?"
"Athenia Constantine. You mean like the Greek god of love Eros?"
"One in the same."
"Sit, please."
He does. They are silent until her meal arrives. At that point, he takes out his wallet, removes a fifty dollar bill, and hands it to the waitress.
"Keep the change," Eros said, unable to tear his eyes away from Athenia's face.
She was about five foot five, with long, silky black hair and brown eyes. Her ears were slightly pointed, giving her a semi-elfish appearance.
Watching her eat, Eros began to get aroused, as she licked her lips after eating a small piece of shrimp.
"Tell me Athenia, why would someone as beautiful as yourself be eating alone?"
"Well, I'm single...that would be why...I can think of another reason, but I wouldn't be able to tell you...that's a secret."
"What?" He asked. "It can't be anything worse than what I'm hiding."
"You don't want to know," Athenia said, looking down.
"Yes, I think I do," Eros replied.
"How would you like to talk about this on a walk home?" Athenia asked him.
"I would love that."

After Athenia ate, they left the Crab Shack, and headed south, towards Athenia's house.
"I guess this was our first date," Eros said slyly.
"I guess so," Athenia said softly.
"So, what's your big secret?" He asked, curious.
"I can only tell you if you tell me yours."
"Well, we will have to crack each other's shells, then, won't we?" Eros asked her, eyebrows raised.
"Yes," she answered quickly.
***
When they arrived at her front porch, it started to rain.
"Well, good night Athenia."
"Lean over here, Eros," she said softly.
He leaned, and she kissed his lips gently, but one time. That kiss would torment him for the following nights to come. It haunted him in his dreams. It made him fall deeply in love with the girl he had just met. Perhaps his destiny and hers was intertwined somehow. His only way to know was to pursue her. That he would have to do, no matter the consequences. He'd never met anyone that affected him like her. He would pursue her to the ends of the earth, but he didn't know why.
To Be Continued...
I'll work on this one...it's a vampire/werewolf story, which I must say I came up with before I even heard of Twilight. I love Twilight, but I haven't seen the first movie yet. (I saw pieces of it today online at youtube.com, finally. I didn't see all of it, but I got the general storyline out of it.) This is going to be my Halloween story for the year. It may take me til next Halloween to finish it. I have a lot of good ideas for it.
