Damn. I just forgot what I was going to blog about! Thinking....thinking....thinking...

Oh yes, That's right: The rain we've been having here in drought-stricken Brisbane, Australia!

It's basically been raining on and off since before Christmas here, which is fantastic because not only has some of it actually fallen in the dams, but things are looking greener and meaner all around. (Well, not sure about the 'meaner' bit, but it rhymed with greener, so it had to go in :)

When I lived at home with my parents, they had a pool that we could see from the kitchen window or over the edge of the back deck. Other than the obvious uses for swimming, it also made a good rain gague: I could tell how much it had rained by looking at how close to overflowing the pool was. :)

But now that I've bought my own humble abode, sans pool, I have no rain gague. It's also really hard to tell from inside when it's that really light sprinkling type rain falling. Back home, I used to just look into the parents pool and see little spots being made on the water, so I knew not to go outside to play.

I've been caught out twice already this morning in my attempts to walk the poor dog who's howling and going crazy from boredom cos of the rain. (Although I gave in yesterday out of pity and walked him during a break in the rain and got drenched on the way back. But at least HIS tail was wagging!) Today I put my shoes on, hat, sunglasses (not that it's sunny, just glarey and plus, I hate people being able to see my eyes) , opened the door to leave only to find it's light, misty and windy rain that I couldn't see from inside because I don't have a pool.  

Of course, the obvious solution would be to open the door and look outside BEFORE I make all the preparations to leave...

So yeah, that's about it from me today, just spicks and specks of pieces of thoughts, spicks and specks about the rain, oh and I love that Spicks and Specks song by the Bee Gees.
