Ok I’m in the middle of having 4 days off. I REALLY needed them too after working 9, (yes, you read that correctly, NINE - not an upside down 6) days straight of MORNING SHIFTS!!!! In no way, shape or form do I resemble anything like a morning person and yet, I had to endure over a week of getting up at 4:10am. There should be a rule about that:
No alarm clock will ever be set for a time with a “4” as the first digit, unless it’s 4 PM.
We went to the My Chemical Romance tour on Thursday night and it was great. Except, that is, for the four 13 year old girls sitting behind us whose screams could reach unknown and dizzying decibel heights so high that every dog around the entertainment centre probably had bleeding ears.... I know my ears were certainly paying for it. I was going to turn around and ask them to not scream so frequently and perhaps lower it to, I dunno, maybe 100 decibels?
But I didn’t. And the reason I didn’t was because of my hair. I’d decided to try and make myself look more alternate and cooler than what I am by using copious amounts of gel to make little twisted spiky bits all over my head (see photo). It set rock hard and made me look like one of those rubber stress balls to massage your hands.
So anyways, with hair looking like that, you kinda lose any credibility and authority you may once have had over a 13 year old ( who had a mouth like a sailor) when you had ‘normal’ adult hair. I could hardly give them a serve for being immature and annoying when they probably couldn’t see much over my hair spines.
We were probably the oldest there (at the tender age of 25) and some kids even had their parents along with them, who I’m sure didn’t buy a ticket because they enjoy hearing “Teenagers scare the living shit out of me!” But good on them for caring enough to take an interest in their child's music and safety.
After getting home at midnight and seeing the enemy (my alarm clock) set for 4:10am – a mere 4 hours later, I decided I would be having a "mental health day" instead of going to work, which I did and it was great. J
