 Revelations and Resolutions
Hello to everyone for the last time in 2007 and how exciting it is to be on the crest of the uncharted territory that is to be the year 2008!

Unfortunately, I (unlike most people I'm assuming) will be working tonight and will therefore miss the world's biggest party, which certainly puts a dampener on my style!

Nevertheless, I'm determined to make 2008 as good as, if not better than 2007 was.

I've realised that I haven't mentioned my work very much in my blog and that's been with good reason:

In my job, people often judge you, despise you and everything you stand for, regardless if they've ever met you, spoken to you or even laid eyes on you.

Before you get all worried, I am not any of the following: prostitute, Greenpeace activist, suicide bomber.

I'm a Police Officer.

This may be a surprise for some people because I've (hopefully) come across in my blogs as a normal person who has loves, likes, dislikes, opinions and (God forbid) a sense of humour, lol.

Now before anyone who's ever mentioned drugs, crimes and anything else that might be termed 'illegal' in their blogs, fear not! I'm NOT judging you and I'm not referring your blogs to your local Police force, haha. The reason I'm here is because I enjoy reading about other normal people's lives and to be reminded of the fact that everyone has their own unique share of problems and are managing their issues as best they can. Plus, I love the funny stories and antics.

In my job, I do my patrols from the seat of a bicycle, believe it or not! (See picture) Yes, I basically get paid to keep fit, which is awesome as it's allowed me to combine my love of cycling with my love of helping people discover the common sense that I know exists somewhere out there. :)

Phew! Glad I got that revelation off my back (hopefully you're still reading at this point and still want to be my friend!)

Now! Onto my resolutions for the New Year:

  • Drink less soft drink.
I usually have a can a day of low cal fizzy drink. I'm going to try and wean myself off it one can at a time.

  • Eat healthier.
Doing as much exercise at work as I do (we ride anywhere between 10 to 50 km per shift), it means I can eat. A LOT. I'm going to try and make healthier choices in the foods I eat.
I even started a day early today with a egg white omelette for breakfast!

  • Try new things and not be afraid to do so.
This year, I'm going to have a serious crack at getting some sort of part-time tattoo apprenticeship. That's right, you heard correctly! I've always loved art and tattoos and I'd love to have a go at doing them myself. We'll see how this turns out...

Anyways, hope everyone has a safe and happy new year, and spare a thought for the boys and girls in blue (or whatever colour your local Police wears) as well as the firefighters, doctors, nurses, ambulance officers too, as we're all working to keep you all safe,

Thanks for the good times on thoughts.com for 2007. It's been grand!

kaos.

Never thought you are a police. A profession that need a lot of courage and discipline. By the way, if you do your job riding a bike, probably you'll need the egg yoke for your omelette.....Have a Happy New Year.

My grandfather was a police officer and my youngest son is considering it if that pro baseball career doesn't pan out. (hee hee)
Can you fix the speeding ticket I got day after Christmas? I was going down a hill at the time and I told the cop, "Just for the record, my foot was not on the gas!" He said, "Just for the record, it wasn't on the brake either, ma'am." Can't argue with that. And I was just wondering....do you have a tattoo of your shield in your "river"? That would be pretty cool.
