Today started as the past 6 days have for me: up at 4:45am to a breakfast of weet-bix and banana. I'm almost at the end of a rather painful 8 morning shifts in a row. As well as losing all enthusiasm for my job this week, I've also lost my mind. I'm so tired I can barely focus on anything more involved than staying upright.
I took the train to work and managed to get a seat, despite today being the first day back at school from Christmas holidays for most children around the country today.
I arrived at work, past the dead duck still sitting in the middle of the road outside my station and wondered just how long it will be there and who will be the one to remove it.
Before I'd even walked in the door, I was mistaken for another girl at my work who also has short blonde hair. I was then subject to partaking in what was for me, a very strange and non-sensical conversation
"Hi, did you get that stuff?"
"Ummm, what stuff?"
"The stuff I sent you. Hang on, are you Madonna?"
"No, I'm kaos."
END conversation.
Wonder what "the stuff" was...
I then sat about wondering how on earth I was going to make the next 8 hours pass as quickly and painlessly as possible, as I was going to be working with a new guy who doesn't really know how things work in our department yet. As the senior member of the crew, I would be expected to set us an itinerary for the day.
An uninspiring lunch soon followed as we wound our way through and around the usual haunts. I decided that tomorrow, being my last shift before a month of holidays, would be an easy one comprising of driving the boss to a medical appointment, sitting at a computer trying to complete an assignment in order to gain a promotion I may not be around for, going to the work provided gym, buying lunch from across the road and the best part:
switching on the "out of office assistant" for my email account for the next 30+ days. :)
This afternoon, as like every other afternoon this week, I'm too tired to make any quality contributions to my art portfolio for a potential tattoo apprenticeship. I'd rather draw quality rather than quantity.
Till next time,
kaos.
