I'll be wearing your new tattoo

The title of this blog is taken from a Tori Amos lyric.
I thought it was time I wrote a blog about tattoos as I am a big fan of them.  I have 3 tattoos.
My parents hate them all because they think tattoos are for the uncouth, bikers, and bad guys in general.

My tattoos are as follows:

1)
Lower back (aka “Tramp Stamp” lol) = a black tribal bird design with Aliz voulez propriis which is Latin for “She flies with her own wings.” This kinda reflects my outlook on life in general.

2)
Right side stomach = an elephant head in blue, white and red (the colours of the Thailand flag) to commemorate my trip to Thailand and how much I loved the elephants. I call this one my "belly-phant" :)

3)     Left inner wrist = a black letter “K” and “B” morphed together (designed by me J) and is my husband’s and my initials. We each got the same design for our 1st wedding anniversary this year.

This pic was taken the day I got it done.

Today we were at my parents-in-law’s 40th wedding anniversary. One of their friends saw my husband’s wrist tattoo and immediately exclaimed her distaste for tattoos....right in front of my parents who, until now, had barely mentioned anything about the hubby’s or my tattoos.

Our tattoos were kind of an unspoken sore point for everyone involved, so it was easier to just pretend they weren’t there, haha. But true to silly husband form, my man decided to roll up his sleeve and show off his full colour half sleeve panther-bursting-out-of-his-skin design, LMAO. I decided not to make any eye contact with the parents at this stage...

So I’m currently planning for the inevitable half sleeve I’ll probably end up with later on in my life, as once you get a tatt, you never look back. I just made that up, haha  What I mean is you can’t just stop at one, they’re addictive, believe it or not.

I’ve decided to theme my future tattoo as “The River of Life” and basically have a wave/body of water flowing along with different items strategically placed in the stream along the way. The items will all be things that have been important and significant to me in my life; like the year I was born, the Brisbane Story bridge, softball, my highschool, my husband and my current job. It would be full colour, very vibrant and very expensive!

I SOOO have a phobia of needles, but I do have a tat! I got one with my hubby like the first week we were dating, he had 2 and I wanted to impress him, it is nothing special, we are currently planning our next, I am thinking a bouquet of my babies birth flowers tied with a ribbon studded with their birth stones...not sure yet though, hubby is getting a gryphon sitting in a stone window, with the girls names etched into the surrounding stone....

I love the tattoos! I'm a tattoo gal as well. I'm afraid of needles & pass out anytime they need to take blood from me, but yet I can sit for tattoos. I have four & want more! :)

Yep, I'm a little hesitant when it comes to needles etc. But the tattoo ones don't seem to phase me. The pain kinda takes away that fear!! lol

I ha_e yet to make that leap into the tattoo zone. Want to, just can't figure out the "right one" for the first one, ya know? My daughter has one and her hubby has a few.. J has three. The one I hate the most but commend him for getting is the snake wrapped around a sword that he has on his left inner forearm. He saw it on an Iron Maiden's band member when he was 13 and carried the pic in his wallet until he was old enough to get it. Kinda cool, I guess. The other one is a jolly roger skull & bones and then he has the bio-hazard symbol on his other arm. He got that one because #1 it's his bestest band and #2 he works in some nasty bio-hazardy places. I will probably end up with Mickey Mouse ears....or his shoes. Love the shoes!
