I’m amazed at the number of celebrities going into rehab who seem to expect sympathy from the public about it. These people have everything going for them: money, limitless possibilities and opportunities to see the world, basically anything they want is theirs- just say the word and someone will get it for you.
But instead, they choose to create an addiction for themselves, and I say “create an addiction” because it seems like addictions are “glamorous” and that rehab is the new black at the moment. They have no reason other than boredom to get addicted to anything. It must be hard sitting around in between movies or albums deciding what to do with yourself and your obligatory entourage... So instead of doing anything worthwhile or good, they decide to make themselves the latest tragedy to come out of Hollywood with a habit.
There are plenty of other people around who are genuine addicts, people who for whatever reason whether it be trauma, depression, stupidity etc has resulted in them becoming an addict. I’m not condoning abuse of drugs/alcohol/'insert-your-preferred-substance-here' in any way, I can’t stand junkies. BUT I do think that celebrities going in and out of rehab like a cat that can't make up it's mind (“I want out, I’m in, I’m out again”) need a swift kick up the arse and should be thankful that they have the opportunity and resources to attend these expensive clinics, unlike many of the other sad cases around.
So here’s my advice to these pathetic celebrity pseudo-addicts: Instead of crying out “poor me! Look , I’m on drugs now, my life is just sooooo incredibly hard!” Toughen up, be thankful for what you’ve got and get over yourself, cos I sure am...
