Well as the title of this blog (and also my very presence here) would suggest, I am back from my holiday at the beach. The weather wasn't the best but it didn't stop me enjoying the beach everyday. The surf was big and rough and a little scary actually, but I still managed to catch a fair few good waves.
I was holidaying with my parents, who paid for the unit we stayed in. (I cooked and brought most of the food :)
After not living with my parents for nearly 4 years, I was reminded towards the end of the week why I no longer live with them!
Bless their hearts and I love them dearly, but they can really get on your nerves at times! Particularly mum... She's one of those people who HAVE to be in a conversation 100% of the time. Now don't get me wrong, I could talk the leg off a table given a chance, but even I concede I need to come up for air every so often, and that the prospect of a few seconds silence isn't always a bad thing...
So, after nearly a week of constant talking, I just plain ran out of things to say! I can almost pinpoint the exact minute my conversation well dried up: it was on Thursday morning, about 11am when we were walking along the water front. Within a few minutes of me not saying anything, mum pounced and said "What's wrong? You've gone all quiet?!"
On another totally unrelated matter, I got my first tattoo kit as an early birthday gift from my husband :) yay!
For the past few months, I've been madly drawing and sketching and reading about how to tattoo whenever I can (hence my lack of blogging!). I took some of my sketches down to the local tattoo shop and presented them to the artist for some tips. I got some good feedback from him, which was encouraging, and some more ideas about how to pursue a tattooing apprenticeship.
So yesterday was "T" day = tattoo day. My first victim was a humble grapefruit, as is common when you're first learning- better off ruining a piece of fruit than someone's arm! I just did some random shapes in black ink and I tell you, I LOVED it! it was soooo tempting to just have a go on my own arm, haha. But I know, I know, it's definately not sterile, which is why I'm using disposable needles and tubes and will not, repeat NOT tattoo a human.
So last night, I celebrated my first forage into the world of tattooing by drinking some grapefruit bacardi breezers :)
