 What others say about me.....
Let me start with what I say about "myself". Not that I believe much in sun-sign readings, when I read about Saggitarius woman in Linda Goodman's Sun-signs, I was surprised and thought, "Did she study me before she wrote this book?". Uhmmm..I happen to be a saggitarius

And here are what others say about me. It will give you some idea of what a specimen I am. I will update this page time to time. Please do come back. But let me start with this quote just to confuse you a bit more...

It seems that different people have an idea of what I am, and what I should be. And then there's me.(Ani Difranco)

My math teacher from high school:

Once my father asked my math teacher how I am progressing. And he replied, "She has a very good mathematical brain...but uhmmmm, boy! she is hasty!". Let me tell this in bengali, it really makes the point. "Kanja-r to onke maatha khoob bhalo...kintu bhishon horbore".

And to prove him right, I made a mistake in dividing 125 by 2 in my 10thgrade state level exam, which cost me 6 points.:-(

My husband:

Sometimes I talk a little too much and as you know when someone talks too much, most of them do not really make much sense. So he advised me, "you know, before you talk to others, just ask me, "Debanjan, Am I saying the right thing?"

Now that is not funny. He will  have to pay for it.;-)

A colleague and a friend:

I always felt that this friend of mine is  over cautious about everything. So one day I mentioned to him that there are  many facts around. But I only see those I need to see. And he has quiped, "Yes, yes, the ostriches amongst us!." And I have heard him exclaim a few times, "Sorry! false alarm"!

A friend from Engineering School:

I was once very upset for a very small reason. And that friend got a taste of it. She kept quiet for a few minutes and let me blow off my steam and then mildly made a comment. "Now, if I break an egg on your head, it will immediately turn into an omlette." When my father heard about this incident, he laughed and laughed and laughed.

A friend from Business School:

"Kanja is a wonderful person but she is very very sensitive too.You really have to be careful of what you say to her".

Well that is not completely true. not anymore. I have become more mature. Atleast I think so. But looks like my childhood friend thinks differently.

A childhood friend:
I must have done or said something silly, for my friend had quipped, "Quand on est jeune, c'est pour toujours ".

From Someone:
One weakness in your character as I see it is "Lack of pessimism".

Yeah, at the age of 36, I still see the world through colored glass and its so beautiful.

The whole world is an illusion, Isn't it?

Now, here are a few things what people said about me that touched my soul and  warmed my heart. Thank you to all!

My husband:
A few years after I was married to Debanjan, he mentioned to me about a day, a few days after our wedding. It seems I was wearing a plain simple red saree to go out with him to meet a few friends of his. He had looked at me and thought to himself, "Am I really this fortunate to married to this very beautiful woman?".

Now, to many this might be a very casual thing, unless you know my husband. You cannot really compare the looks of man and woman but all I can say is he is far more good looking than I am. But the most important thing to note that he is not at all expressive of his emotions and he is very  very critical of everything around him. Now to get a compliment like that from a man like him is a big big thing. I must have churned his heart that day! May be big time...(I think I will wear that saree more often. I am craving for diamond jewelry ;-
))

My father:
When my daughter was born, he wrote a nice poem giving her blessings and advice, mentioning all the good qualities of her near ones. He  blessed that she grows up to be as learned as her father, as virtuous as her gramdmoms(form both side) and then he wrote that "May she be true and honest to herself like her mother."
I am so touched!

A friend from Engineering School:
Touched by my affection, a friend of mine had once said, "I can imagine, how much you will love your kids."
Wow, I was touched and bowled over.

A friend from Business School:
When I emailed my friend to give the news of my motherhood, he had send his blessings for my daughter in  these very sweet words, "May she grows up to be as good a person as her mother!"

A friend (wife of a good friend of Debanjan):
She had lost her son two hours after his birth, probably because of ill health. Upon hearing that I was very sad and had send her an email and prayed that she gets strength and hope to survive this  very  tough time in her life. She didnot reply to me immediately. And I understood her position. But a few days ago, she replied to that two year old email, which gave me goose bumps. Here is an excerpt from this email.

"You may be surpised to receive this mail from me today but I have been wanting to write to you for a very long time. I have preserved your mail which you wrote to me more than 2  years back. Your mail was probably the only message that gave me the much needed consolation at that point &  also reemphasized my belief that God will give me what he has taken away. I knew somehow that one day I will reply to  you and thank you for what you have done. "
