we are readers, some of us, thats what we do, its how we have fun, its how we pass time, its how we are helped to grow and better ourselves, its how...our days go by. not everyone understands that.
i have gotten lots of comments on my reading habbits and specifically on the books i like to read. someone recently called them self help books-hmm, another said they are too churchy and i should get a life, another said, i need to build myself in other areas, life apparently is not all about God. i say, i wont argue with any of you, just let me read my books and turn out the way i will.
i was reading a book, "Created to be his Help Meet" and i thought it was worth much more than i paid for it. self help-didnt come to mind when i was looking at it on the display, nope, what came to mind was an opportunity to better myself before i thought of getting married and its been a real inspiration.
that Phrase "never judging a book by its cover" its true to some book critics. To criticise without knowledge of the subject-well thats a crazy thing to do. A certain Mr. L finds me reading the book, looks at the cover, reads the back page, and throws it back on the chair declares it "self help". i was surprised really. the inside of the book has nothing like self help, its has alot to do with God help!! the author's writting was all based on the bible scriptures, and personally, i will take the word of God before i take man's word-if its not rhyming with the word of God, it wont sit well with me.
Ms K, said it was the authors life experiences and we all couldnt base our marriages on the authors marriage, i didnt agree, we learn you see, we are learners and thats how we grow, those that disregard learning are giving room for pride, doesnt the bible teach us that the older women should teach the younger? those with experience- what better way to learn? we all want to first fall in the hole and ignore the cries of those who fell before begging us to avoid the holes! i'd rather read this book than read one on 12 easy steps to a quick divorce.
so no, am reading this book and contrary to what the mr.'s amd ms' are thinking, God is teaching me from He's word expounded by experiences of so many women about the role He has given them in marriage, am learning, am not sitting down waiting to get in and then panick and mess up the good things, we all mess up, alot really, but wouldnt it be awesome if we took the time to learn from those that have been there, those that have had the inspiration to write and give us insight? how come we are so quick to take a chemistry or biology text book for truth and so quick to disregard christian literature??
