has told me he has given up... it cuts deep. he hasn't given up on me or love - but life! there are evil people out there and they are plotting against him. what does one do... what one does NOT do is give up faith. my love gives me the strength to have hope for him. he introduced me to the spirtual and explained what it all meant. i know that is a little generalized - but he did. i have nothing to offer but real love and if this all goes bad i fear i will give up on love.

Don't give up.
Mine had the same problem,
it's a phase, and you have to convince him that he has one life; one absolutely wonderful life that he cannot give up on. Remind him of the good things, which hopefully include you. Crudely remind him that by giving up on life, he is insulting your love by saying it is not enough.
Make him realize.
Don't give up.
