What's Happening in Rock 'n' Roll Today. #7
I regret to say that this will quite possibly be my last blog.  I believe that this last one will be pretty good though.  There were several big announcements made over the weekend in the world of rock 'n' roll.  I have several pieces of good news and unfortunately one piece of potentially sad news.  Keep reading to find out more!

First, some good news.  My speculations were correct about the future of rock supergroup Velvet Revolver.  Guitarist Slash made a statement over the weekend concerning the future of the band.  "There will be a third album,” Slash said, “We don’t know how or when but the core four guys will continue.” It looks like there will be a third album, with or without lead singer Scott Weiland.  For more information concerning the VR controversy, check out my earlier blogs.

Popular rock band U2 has finally signed a contract with concert promoter, LiveNation.  LiveNation has handled almost every U2 tour for the past two decades.  Lead singer Bono laughingly stated: “We’ve been dating for over twenty years now, it’s about time we tied the knot.” This contract will only give LiveNation control over concert promotion, merchandising, and the band's website.  All album production and distribution will continue to be handled by Universal Music Group.

Recently reunited, legendary rock band Van Halen has been taking some time off from their world tour as guitarist Eddie Van Halen has been recovering from an unidentified illness.  Eddie's son, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, commented on his father's condition over the weekend.  According to Wolfgang, Eddie is “doing great — seriously.” Wolfgang also expressed his excitement to start the tour back up.  Van Halen will pick up the tour starting with an April 19th show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In a bit of potentially sad news, a rumor is going around that legendary rock 'n' roll group AC/DC has announced a farewell tour.  Eddie Trunk, host of Vh1 Classic and XM's Boneyard, announced on his "Friday Night Rocks" radio program that AC/DC had planned a farewell tour.  When Spinner.com asked bassist Cliff Williams about the new album, he mentioned that the band would hit the studio March 1, 2007 to begin work.  The website caught up with Williams at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles and Williams, in reference to the albums release, stated "God I'm ready." When asked about a post-album tour Williams said: "If we go out again or when we go out again, you just never know. We've been around a long time, so we're going to get together and get in the studio and I fully expect we will (tour). I don't mean to be so negative about that." Though Williams makes no mention of a "farewell tour," I suppose it is still possible.  Trunk has been wrong in the past about these types of band rumors, so don't get bummed out just yet!

Thanks for reading my blogs over the past week.  I hope I have successfully informed my readers of the goings-on in today's world of rock 'n' roll!
