| For All Dog Lovers...Stop the Ohio Pit Bull Ban

The dumbasses in the Ohio legislature have proposed a bill banning the breed of pit bull terriers from the whole state. If passed, supposedly, all pit bull owners in Ohio will have 90 days to surrender their pit bulls to a dog warden. 10 days after the dogs have been taken, they will be put down. Even if the warden suspects the pet to be some sort of pit bull mix, they can be taken away from their owners.
This is such an injustice. Even responsible pet owners whose dogs have never harmed anyone will lose their pit bulls just because of the breed. I've known more Jack Russells and chihuahuas that have bitten people than pit bulls I know and no one is banning them. And no one should.
It is not the fault of the breed that tragedies happen. I know that dogs have maimed and even killed people and other pets. It is a truly horrible thing and dogs guilty of that should be put down. But entire breed shouldn't be punished. Because the fault lies with the irresponsible owners who never learned to properly handle their dogs.
If we are going to pass laws to stop tragedies from happening, we should make it so that you have to prove you are capable of owning a pet. There are strict guidelines you must go through to adopt a child. Perhaps similar protocol should be used when buying or adopting pit bulls. That could also stop people like Michael Vick from abusing the dogs as well.
This Ohio bill must be stopped. If you feel as strongly as I do, please go to this website and sign the petition to stop this bill. And if you live in Ohio, please call your representative and tell them to vote no on House Bill 568.
