The day after her surgery...

It was another long day at the house of misery.  My wonderful daughter had surgery yesterday and when the medicine wears off, there is hell to pay in my house.  She takes it every four hours...and the first 2 hours are pretty great, the third going into the fourth are rough as she starts to feel the pain...which in turn makes us feel the pain.

At 10 last night she did fairly well taking her meds, whereas 2 AM, not so much.  She was sleeping soundly when I went and woke her up with the worst tasting, stickest medicine i've ever seen.  She fought taking it, then got sticky all over her and the sheets.  So off to get her a wash rag I go.  Then the dog wanted to go out, so it was close to 2:30 before I made it back to bed.

I'm not sure if I slept through the next alarm or just set it for the wrong time, but it was 6:30 before I got up to do it all over again.  This time however, I opted to give her a bath after the meds to work off 2 layers of sticky.

Then the two of us sat in the chair, rocking, and watching cartoons.  That was how our day went most of the day...Feeling bad, giving meds, cleaning up from meds, rocking in the chair, taste testing different soft foods, and watching cartoons.  What a Saturday!

However, it was a little different today as my dog seems to be in some pain.  I noticed after she went outside at 6:30 that she didn't jump on the couch to sleep or go upstairs.  She was walking fine, but whenever I rubbed her legs they would shake.  I did a test at lunch time, where I laid some food in a bowl that i know she likes, and she refused to even come in to get it.  So, now i'm concerned about what happened to her.  I wonder if she feel outside this morning or something else.

It's heart breaking watching her hurt...and I mean both of my girls...

I spent some time today on the internet looking up activities in our area.  My family always gets together to eat dinner, but in the summer we like to go outside and go to music events, sporting events, and the likes.  It is amazing how many things there are to do in our area when you really do some searching.

I can't wait to enjoy these activites, when there is no sticky medicine to deal with.  (and i hope that is really soon)

I was going to try and wean her tomorrow, but when she gets so upset at hour 3, i can't imagine going any longer.  Maybe on Monday!
