Last night was a family outing at Camp Tanager for the employees of Tanager Place. With the weather a fine 82 degrees the kids swam for over 2 hours in the pool, while Joe and I enjoyed the company of his co-workers.
At 8:00 I pulled the kids out of the pool and they were totally freezing by that point, but Joy looked more sick than cold. Now the last few days she has been complaining her throat hurt a little bit, but nothing extreme.
She fell fast asleep before we made it home and I carried her inside, changed her into her pj's, and put her in bed. About an hour later, I was exhausted and thought I'd go to bed, but before I did that, I checked on both of my kids. Jackson was sleeping just fine, but Joy was burning up. 102 degree temp and her eyes were open, but they were rolling. I tried to wake her up and she couldn't focus on anything. I screamed for Joe and he came to her room and you could see the terror on his face as well.
I was doing everything in my power to wake her up and that was when I realized she had peed her bed. I believe this might be the first time EVER that she has peed the bed, so even that terrified me! I moved her around to change her bedding and her clothes and yet she countinued to keep her eyes open and not focus on anything.
I was close to calling her doctor as she couldn't answer the simpliest question, as in who I am? Who she was? Who was daddy? Anything...but she couldn't answer.
After another 5 minutes of shaking, talking, wiggling, and whatever else we could think of, she looked at Joe and said, "daddy." It was the sweetest words I have ever heard. We gave her some meds to fight the fever, she curled up in a cute little ball, and fell asleep.
At least someone in the house slept last night, because after the episode with her I couldn't rest. I continued to check on her throughout the night and when she got up this morning I was thrilled to see her warm smile. I did however get her into the doctor early on this morning.
The only thing they could do for me was do a strep test (that was negative) and that she was probably just reacting to being so tired and a fast acting fever that made her act like that...but make sure I keep an eye on her. (will do)
So currently, Joe took Jackson to a movie so Joy and I could take some time to relax and work on her fever. I hope it does the trick!
