This afternoon and this evening I enjoyed the company of my family and some friends at a local charity event for an organization that helps abused children, Tanager Place. (and it happens to be where my husband works)
This morning Joe and I helped set up the event where thousands were expected. We helped in the make-your-own-cereal tent which we have done for two years now. And for the second year in a row, my hands were bleeding after opening box after box of cereal.
We invited Jackson's best friend to join us this afternoon and had a great time making lots of crafts, getting several free gifts, making our own cereal, making a kite, going on rides, and seeing the costumed people. We ended up with 4 bags of stuff when we left. It was totally amazing. We saw lots of friends and enjoyed the company of everyone out for a good cause.
However, for every good there seems to be a bad! And my bad was the dark clouds that were brewing from every side. It threatened to un-leash its fury at any moment with loud cracks of thunder and the brightest lightning strikes I've ever seen. The longer the night went on, the darker those clouds became to the point we almost had to leave for fear of what it might be like.
That cloud was my son. His fury at times today was more than I could deal with. The storm raging inside of him was so dark one moment and so bright the next. Like the sun was hiding behind those clouds. He received 2 time outs during the darkest moments.
I hope tomorrow the sun will return.
