3 days and counting before school starts for another year. And yet somehow this one is different. Could it be the only one that's left in preschool is me? That my baby, is no longer a baby and starts junior kindergarten this year? Could it be that kindergarten for my son is over and done with? Could it be the programs that I want to implement this year that seem so overwhelming right now?
Or could it be that out of my 44 students, only 11 are returning?
On another note:
Last night I took my parents to a reunion at a church in Ely that my great-great-great grandfather started. We got there at 5:30 and at kolaches (awesome) and talked with some of the folks about my family heritage. Every pastor from the church since my ggg-grandfather was there was given a chance to speak, or a church member shared some memories. The memories started at 7 and we were told it was to end by 9. And of course my family part was last! Long story...but it was very boring...we knew more about my geneology then the man giving the lecture, and I should have known we were in trouble when he started the slide show at 8:50 as he commented to us earlier he had about 30 slides. So, the program did not end at 9 as promised...more like 10:30. I think we were all very disappointed.
Speaking of disappointments, today we were invited to state fair and had to decline due to Joy being sick. Instead, we opted to go school clothing shopping...oh what fun that is! Joy actually was with me in the cart and fell asleep as I picked out a new skirt outfit for open house tomorrow night. Jackson got a new pair of velcro shoes and then I made him also buy tie shoes (I know...mean mommy). He knows how to tie, but just won't take the time to do it.
I worked in my gardens for awhile today, just to get out of the house. (no, school clothes shopping does not count as a good time) I have several tomatoes, green peppers, and carrots that I pulled today. I found a couple of baby pumpkins that have started growing and the corn is about ready to be picked. It is very cool to see! My flower gardens are starting to take shape except that the beautiful purple flower I bought a couple of weeks ago lost all of his flower buds. (bummer)
And right before bed time I showed the kids the new Wii game I bought us. We all do a wonderful job of kicking some chicken butt! (which I decided I deserved to get with school starting this week)
So, a small portion of my day, to remember from now and forever.
