The animal/kid population is diminishing by the moment at my house. At one point today I had 4 children (2 of mine), 2 dogs (1 was mine), and a cat. (not mine) It felt like a zoo, except without the cages.
It started with my kids wanting to play outside and they played at the neighors house, then they would return home, then back to the neighbors house, then back home, and it goes on and on and on.
To say the dogs didn't get along would be an understatement. One dog wants to play; one dog doesn't. There was whining, barking, fighting, growling, etc. Then, i decided to add the neighbors cat (whom I'm watching while they are on vacation) into the mix. (what in the hell was I thinking?)
The dog who wants to play wants to also play with the cat. Again, the cat was in no mood to play and made it well known to everyone within screetching distance. At one point i thought I had lost the cat because i could not and i mean COULD NOT find him. I had the kids and actually the dogs helping me look. (apparently a grown woman looking under the beds makes for entertainment for children and dogs!)
The kitty had gone all the way to the basement and was hiding under the pool table when i found him. The dogs were none to happy to help me bring him back upstairs.
So, i opted to take the kitty back home and within the last hour the flood victim dog we were watching went home. The kids all went back to their respective houses including my children who also are in their beds.
My 6 hours in the zoo has come to an end, for that I'm fairly grateful. |
