A lot of bad things happened today, somehow they always do.
But some amazing things happened as well and those are what I want to remember.
1. This is teacher appreciation week...who knew?...not me! But one of my parents brought us a decorated cookie that said "thank you." Our principals brought us all flowers and told us we are the gardeners in our student's lives. Another group of parents have told me they are providing lunch for us on Thursday...all we have to do is tell them what we want to eat. It was so nice to have such sweet signs of affection from them.
2. One of my student's got invited to an open house at her next school and on the card it said bring along your favorite adult and apparently she told her mom she was going to bring me. I almost melted. The rest of us know it means to bring their parents, but here was this sweet child asking to bring me.
3. It's dandelion season and my daughter has brought me as many as her little hands can hold. I put one in my hair this morning and she said I was the most beautiful mommy ever. How do you replace good feelings like that?
I smiled today, which you might think is nothing special, but to me it's everything. I was loved today. No one can take that away!
