 Happy May Day!

When did the fun of May Day disappear?  I remember as a child running all around the neighborhood trying to give that one last basket to un-suspecting friends and neighbors.  I carefully placed the popcorn in the cups with the pipe cleaner handles.  Picked out special candy for each person I made a delivery to.  And some years I can remember the fun of picking violets out of the yard to place in some very lucky baskets.

This year however, I noted that only 2 of my 40 preschoolers had made up baskets for their friends.  They had no idea why you would do that?  So of course today I had them make May Day baskets and decide which family member they would like to give them to.  It was fun watching their faces light up with the popcorn and candy they could deliver to a family member at home.  I hope that when their parents or grandparents receive these little baskets of love that they feel like a child once again.

Happy May Day everyone!
