The first day came and it rocked...especially after 4:00 when I got home!
Started with child #1 complaining about the outfit he f**king picked out! Apparently, he didn't realize he actually had to wear the shorts HE picked to while were at the store over the weekend!
Next, child #2 was supposed to get on the bus at 8:34 and daddy was then going to walk child #1 to school. Bus does not arrive, daddy calls me at school in a panic while I'm trying to help 20 preschool parents who are also in a panic. My associates were gratious enough to call the transportation department for me after my first attempt didn't go through. Daddy calls again and informs me he is going to drive her to school...i hear here crying because she wants to ride the bus...then I hear that the bus arrives at the time she is supposed to be at school...whatever!
I had 22 students in my morning class and only 5 of them were crying so I thought it was going to be an okay. We went throughout our morning and 5 minutes before time to go a child threw up.
I had 2 important phone calls over the lunch time and about 10 that were not so important. Then drove to the babysitter to see my baby get off the school bus. It was amazing to see her bounce off the steps with the world's largest smile! It was totally rewarding!
But then I got to go back to work for first day of preschool, part II. This class has 21 students and only 1 was crying today. But she made up for all of the others. She does not speak English and her parents...very little. She was very frightened, very scared, and very heart broken...and that was her mother! Mom would not leave and we were just as frustrated as we could not figure out how to explain to mom that her daughter would be just fine. We were totally heart broken for both of them but we weren't sure what to do.
This poor girl pulled my hair and scratched my neck as she tried to get to her mom...I felt so terrible. She even got to the point of throwing up 2 times because she was so upset.
(If you are keeping track...that's 3 puking incidents in 1 day!)
By the time I got done with the day, I was fried...understandably!
But the best thing of the day was when I picked up my children and I got a huge huge hug from my kids. Jackson was in the most amazing mood and was all night which made the frustrating today the most beautiful thing!
What a day!
